This product works wonders for teaching baby to fall asleep, while weaning him off his dependency on nursing/rocking.
How it works:
1) Do the bedtime routine (nurse, bath, books/songs in that order)
2) Swaddle baby so only his arms are secure (you need those legs out of the swaddle to strap baby in)
3) Put him in the bouncer awake in a dim or dark room
4) Add lovey/something that smells like mom
5) Turn it on to full-speed and full-volume (bounce mode & white noise of your choice)
6) Walk away. Baby is asleep within 10 minutes!
Side effects:
- longer naps
- less night wakings
- a sense of relief & triumph
I was initially going to buy the Fisher Price swing but saw this and decided to splurge - turned out to be the right choice, because:
1) The difference between speeds is noticeable
The difference between speeds on the swing is barely noticeable, but on this one it's pretty clear. This is crucial for when you want to wean baby off of the device (keep lowering the speed until baby can sleep in it with no motion) & transition to the crib.
2) Multiple bounce modes
A swing only has one type of motion whereas this has 5 to choose from. If your baby falls asleep in the car, Car Ride works well. If he likes being bounced on an exercise ball, Kangaroo fits the bill. If he likes being swayed in your arms, Rock-a-bye it is.
3) The white noise is not on a timer
White noise calms baby and keeps him asleep longer. You want that noise on for the whole time baby is asleep.
4) Lightweight
Much lighter than you would expect, so it's very easy to move from one room to another.
5) Plugs in
No battery waste
Did I mention the design is stylish and sleek too?
